Home Buildings & Contents Insurance

Home Insurance is for your home's contents such as TV's, clothes carpets etc. 

Buildings Insurance is for the property itself from the footings to the roof. It will come into force if you suffer weather damage or burst pipes for example. It should be enough to pay for a rebuilding of the property.

Home Insurance.

Having the correct level cover for your home contents is necessary or you will be under-insured and and claim you make will receive a lesser payment.

By using Oakwood Finances we will advise on the level of home contents insurance needed and prompt you about thinks that you may over look. Typically you will need to list a value for:

  • office equipment in the home: such as computers, printers, screens and shredders etc.
  • cash left in your home
  • contents of your shed garden and garage
  • cost of replacing locks and keys
  • clothing
  • kitchen equipment
  • media equipment - smart TVs, audio equipments smart devices

Buildings Insurance.

When your own your home it is a requirement to have buildings insurance and when you purchase a property the buildings insurance needs to be in place for you to be able to exchange contracts. Oakwood Finances will advise on the buildings  insurance cover you need. If you have a mortgage or other property loan then it will be a condition of the mortgage that you have adequate cover. Typically buildings cover will provide insurance for the following:

  • Flood Damage
  • Damage to walls, structures and sewers caused by subsidence
  • Weather damage to roofing and the fabric
  • Frozen pipes and damage caused
